errands in Capitan: Amazon, library, propane, general delivery

I tried to guess the correct order of errands and got it right this time

propane

drove by the propane place and saw they were closed until lunch. No problem.

USPS

I swung by the USPS and picked up my General Delivery mail. Easy peasy.

library downloads

The Amazon packages were out for delivery but not in the locker yet, so I parked near the public library to update devices and download stuff that’s been queued up. Finished that up a little after 1pm when the propane place was supposed to be reopened.

While the wifi chugged along I got notification that my Escapees addy is up and running, so I started changing my address in the most important places. Now I just have to remember the new zip code for use at the fuel pumps…

propane fill

Pleasant family-owned business, mom running the office and son dispensing the propane. $20.04 isn’t bad to fill a completely empty tank.

As far as I can tell, my last propane fill was in Oct 2023.

amazon

After getting the propane filled the phone chimed and my packages were delivered to the locker. :-) In this shipment:

  1. GL.iNet GL-SFT1200 travel router (“Opal”). It has 5gHz, which I wanted. In many of the public places I use wifi the 5gHz band seems less congested than 2.4gHz. Not talking anything like the theoretical speeds, so I don’t think it has to do with the band. I think there are just more 2.4-only devices out there camping out on that band.
  2. a replacement mouse. My old one had click-buttons that were increasingly erratic.
  3. some fly bait. No fly problems yet, but I want to be ready for summer.
