backchannel: how do I combine this thing I bought with this other stuff I bought
I have a truck camper that comes with 400w of solar, and I have an additional 400w ready to add. I have a 280 ah battery and the camper comes with a 30 amp solar controller.I just got a Bluetti Elite 300 as my way to supplement power by adding 250ah and provide the camper with an inverter
It’d have been substantially less hoop-jumping and less expense to add an inverter to the existing system.
How can I tie in the Bluetti to allow solar recharge and also allow DC into the main RV’s system as usage
The time to figure out how to use stuff is before buying the stuff.
You can run 800 on a 30amp
What we can do and what is practical are often different things. You can stack a pallet of concrete bags on your foot; that doesn’t make it a good idea.
MPPT controllers are typically overpaneled 10-30% to account for such inefficiencies. 800w on a 30A controller @ 12v is ~87% overpaneled; it will stay maxxed out much of the time.
I am continually amazed by people who buy power stations because “they are simple” then try to wedge them into bizarre, counterproductive setups. Why is this? I suspect this is the order of events:
- have no understanding of what one needs or how to meet those needs
- buy influencer-hyped solutions that promise to magically meet unspecified needs
- have anxiety
- GOTO step 2
The play is at first base: figure out what you need and what can meet that need. Then buy whatever fits the bill. I don’t care if that’s a power station or a DIY setup.
I am writing this backchannel rather than replying to the OP because I don’t think they can/will listen. They are already arguing with people who understand the issues. I play a game with the perpetually confused like this – I look to see how far back in their posting history I have to go to see them talking about chemical or alcohol abuse. In this case it was “weed, 1 year”. It’s called stoner thoughts for a reason.
My power setup will continue to meet my needs regardless of how much flailing occurs with newbies.
