a couple stops en route
amazon pickup weirdness
I ended up leaving around 1:30pm on Wednesday. I picked up the General Delivery in Beulah (no problem) and waited for the Amazon package to show up at the pickup counter (a local utility that had a UPS setup). When the UPS driver left I walked in to pick it up and the worker bee had opened my package on her desk. She said her shop wasn’t an amazon pickup point. Okaaaaay. My guess is the owner is working with UPS to set up the pickup and hadn’t told the worker bees. Doesn’t explain why she opened a package with my name on it 60 seconds after receiving it.
I looked for a way to notify Amazon that this location claims not to be a pickup point but didn’t see anything. Oh well, I tried. The site is still displayed as a pickup location for Beulah.
reprovisioning
Stopped in Trinidad, CO superwallyworld to reprovision. ~$120.
stopping in Raton
The timing of the UPS delivery put me a little behind schedule. I couldn’t make it to the boondocking spot before sundown so I will stealth in Raton, NM tonight.
Will finish the ~90min drive in the morning so we can see the campsites.
muffin ingested psychoactives again
Backtracking a bit: when breaking camp I moved Muffin’s lead to a new location to keep her out of harm’s way. I caught her eating something and tried to get to her before she finished it. By the time I got there she’d hoovered up all of it off the ground. I assumed it was coyote poop.
By the time we got to the USPS for the pickup she was acting weird. She’s been exposed to THC 2x so far (a gummy user’s car and a ground-shitting pothead, apparently). I think the poop on the ground was stoner poop not coyote poop because she started showing the symptoms: fear, loss of balance, jerky movements, falling, laying down, loss of urinary control.
I put an old t-shirt under her to absorb the pee and tried to keep her still on the drive. By the time we got to Trinidad the worst was over and she was controlling her bladder again. I had to lift her in/out but she could stand in the grass well enough to pee on her own. I’m writing this at 9pm and she seems to be over it, other than extreme sleepiness.
