reloading: 8mm Hornady SST

170gr SST

The Hornady 170gr SST arrived at the local Sportsman’s Warehouse yesterday and I picked them up.

I used a Hornady reloading manual to find minimum and max loads and OAL. I made up 9 examples; 3 each in min, near-max, and middling loads. The near-maxxes are >3,000ft-lbs at the muzzle of the Mauser’s 29.5” barrel so I see little need to push further. :-)

Right now I’m just looking to see how the old girl handles the pressures. I don’t have a chrono and so cannot collect that data.
