countdown to surgery: one week out
Getting some things finalized.
boarding for Muffin
I found a boarder on Rover for Muffin while I am away. Since I will be checked into the hospital early morning Monday to prepare for the very early Tuesday surgery I booked it for Sunday to Sunday. In theory I will have been home a couple days before Muffin is dropped off; that will give me time to acclimate to the new situation before re-introducing doggo.
preparing not to drive for a month
- making final grocery shopping list; will actually buy the groceries the Sunday evening before
- sending off scooter key to get a duplicate made
- preparing the Go Bag
gory details
- ACDF of C4-C5, a common cervical intervention
- excellent overview by Prasad on YT.
- ACCF of C6, less common from what I can tell as a layman. This starts out with ACDF of C5-C6 and C6-C7 (see above).
- another excellent overview by Prasad
- surgical demo on a cadaver from the Seattle Science Foundation.1 ACCF on the C5 in this case. Might want to turn on captions because the language is technical and the surgeon is masked.
- fusion from C4-C7.
- overview by Prasad. No, not a fanboi. Yes, he’s the best I’ve found on YT.
