adding a meshtastic repeater

Meshcore in El Paso

The bulk of the El Paso mesh has moved to Meshcore, with good results.

As of today there are 189 nodes in my client list, 121 of which are advertising a location and therefore show up on the map:

The vast majority are from ELP but there are active nodes in Alamogordo, NM and Cd. Juarez across the border in Mexico.

Since I have spare v3 nodes for experimentation I’m still running a Meshtastic client. It doesn’t pick up much inside the house. Therefore…

Meshtastic repeater

So I ordered a seed studio SenseCAP Solar Node P1 (like this one but without the 18650s or GPS module). I’ll strap it up outdoors as a public service to those who prefer MT over MC.

I thought about getting another PeakMesh repeater since the one I have has performed perfectly. But the seeed is a bit less expensive and will let me play with a different type of hardware.

fallback position

If there is no value to having it on vanilla MT I might use it on the ham freqs with my ham callsign. Or with Reticulum or something.
