I’ve seen multiple delays at this hub so I googled what is going on at the North Houston Distribution Center.

Apparently it’s a well-known clusterfsck. A local station even has an entire news subsection devoted to the ongoing bumbling.

  • My most recent mail forwarding package from Escapees sat at the hub for two business days.
  • My recent mail to the Polk county tax office (scooter registration) sat for three business days at the hub. It was supposed to be delivered two days ago.

There’s also an OIG report which contains this line:

We identified deficiencies for four of the five areas we reviewed that affected the efficiency of operations at the North Houston P&DC.

20% is a passing grade, right?

(lack of) Update Aug 15th: for 5 days and counting the bike registration packet I mailed to Polk County has been stuck in the quicksand at this N. Houston hub. I sent it signature-required because it contains:

  • the existing CO title
  • the bill of sale
  • and a M.O. for >$200.

Status shows will arrive later than expected1. Ya think? I am 90% sure it will make it to the tax office eventually. It would be a PITA to lose those original documents.

(lack of) Update Aug 16th: no change. This is my surprised face.

(lack of) Update Aug 17th: no change. We’ve gone from Expected Delivery by Monday, August 11, 2025 to whatever, man. That’s just, like, your expectation.

Actual Update Aug 1 Delivered, Front Desk/Reception/Mail Room. Yay! This signature required / tracked packet arrived a week late. I can’t imagine regular 1st class mail would be any better.
