challenges of the week: fresh water pump and vehicle registration
water pump
I installed a RV 12v water pump in 2017. It froze up last night then came back to life with a tap from a plastic hammer. Froze up again and wouldn’t come back.
There are no RV shops here and the local wally world didn’t have one. I re-ordered the same one from Amazon and it should be here Sunday. I have at least 10 gallons of fresh in the Aquatainers so I will have plenty until then. It’ll take an extra trip to town (33 miles round trip) but I’ll use that opportunity to get an additional shower.
Texas vehicle registration
I am never in Texas when my registration is due. Normally when I log in to do it online it recognizes my IP is in NM, AZ, NV or whatever and suspends the smog check requirement.
This year, probably because the website was changed to drop the mandatory inspection the site didn’t give that option. Possible outcomes, from best to worst:
- I call and there’s a workaround (will do that this week)
- get the van smog-checked locally, if TX accepts smog checks from other states
- move my mailing service and residence to Escapees several about 10 months early (was planning on December 2025). That county doesn’t have emissions checks
- move my vehicle registration to another state.
I don’t have to have it handled until May when my present registration expires.
