two years with lithium
I just realized it’s been two years since I installed the LiFePO4.
No regrets.
alternate timelines
If I’d been somewhere static I could have ordered components and gotten more Ah for less money. But I was on the road.
Prices have continued to fall. If I were doing it today I could buy ~200Ah of LiTime or similar for the same money as the original 100Ah.
capacity
I have only run the bank down to BMS cutout once since I’ve owned it; I left some big load running all night (crypto miner?) and woke up before sunrise with no power. Went back to sleep and by the time I woke up solar had the system running again. No harm, no foul.
warming
I am happy with the external warming and would not pay for self-heated if I had to replace the bank today. I’m working on an opinion article on the topic for those contemplating the choice.
cycles
The BMS (JBD) seems to consider each use of 80% of rated Ah to be 1 cycle, regardless of how it is consumed. As of right now I’ve had the bank for 740 days of full-time use and the BMS indicates 436 cycles.
This means I’m using about 0.59 “cycles” per day.
