desert weather and solar yield

desert weather

The weather is cool and windy, and bright-overcast. From a solar standpoint completely overcast days are a bummer but there still is yield.

  • clear skies: It’s 1030am here in early winter. I would see something like 250w coming in if there were no clouds.

  • bright-overcast: complete cloud cover but it’s still bright enough to squint. I am currently making 160w in these conditions.

  • overcast: what most folks would consider overcast. You can see where the sun is but can look at it without squinting. I make about 125w ceterus paribus

  • dark-overcast: like a thunderstorm. Can’t tell where the sun is. ~65w

Harvest will continue to increase the closer we get to solar noon.
