return to connectivity

I came down off the mountain again and so have connectivity again.

BLM

I’m on BLM land outside Santa Fe. The BLM area is pretty large but very short on actual places to boondock. I spent more time hunting for a spot (two hours?) and finally returned to the fallback. It’s infested with OHV rowdies and firing “ranges” but it was my best option.

brass

The shooters are so negligent at picking up brass (or anything else) that I have picked up many pounds easily. Tomorrow is Sunday so I think I’ll take another hike through the closest ones as soon as the sun comes up.

cattle

There are black cattle wandering around; Angus, maybe? They are eartagged with NMSU so I suppose they are part of a university study.

They are curious which is fine by me, as long as they stop tearing down my tarp. They give Muffin fits, though. At one point a heifer walked up to the van and Muffin leaped through the air and headbutted it. I don’t think that was the plan and of course she bounced off the cow’s giant noggin. The cow looked surprised but didn’t walk off.

absentee ballot

I submitted a request for a Texas mail-in ballot; they’re not going out of their way to make it easy. Next question is whether I can get it delivered to my mailing address, forwarded out here to NM, and mailed in by the deadline.
