In (faint) praise of the iPhone

I was assigned a work phone (boo!) and it was an iPhone 8 (boo!).  As much as it frustrates me with the “we know what’s best for you” apple approach, I do have a couple of nice things to say about it:

1. the hardware is beautiful, as always

2. the battery life is much better than many android phones

As far as “it just works”, I had an immediate problem with my new-in-box iPhone where it would not log into iCloud.  Took two levels of support, and they finally said to do a clean install of the latest iOS.  That worked, but it’s a bit of a blunt instrument.
